Visit and give movies a new home!
Right now they're selling their VHS for $1 and I also picked up some movie buttons!!
The store is pretty awesome, it's small but the walls are packed tapes and tapes and tapes which are all in alphabetical order. Starting at A I walked all around to Z and it was a fun hunt as Julia and I shared our finds and just oooh-ed and awww-ed over others. They also sold DVD's and Video games, but I stayed focused on the VHS because I will NEVER FORGET the tapes I so love! Also while we were in the store there was some other guys that came and went but it was also fun to overhear their conversation about various movies that they've seen and were looking for. It was hard to leave, but we both made a good score!
The cruising continued and we made a stop at a collectible toy shop called BIG KID which had a ton of cool toys and retro bits. I saw a BLACK HOLE lunch box that was going for a good price and was quite happy to know I have one safe at home and it's signed too! (Yes I'm bragging!) The store was fun to browse, I got some ZOTS and a BUBBLE UP!
After a bit more driving and a browse through the Sherman Oaks Antique Mall (playing terrible music and too pricey) we stopped at a video store that was closing out but found that they weren't open...BOOO!
So we continued our journey and went on to Odyssey Video in North Hollywood where we found a DEAD Meter to park the car!
There was a ton of awesome videos in the store! Julia had been there earlier in the week and was back for more. I somehow resisted really splurging but found some very cool stuff nonetheless.
My end haul included the films: Living On Tokyo Time / Young Einstein / Rockula / The Annhilators / 1990: The Bronx Warriors / Blackout / Hot Potato / Eye of the Tiger (starring Gary Busey) / The New Kids / American Autobahn / Future Shock / The Chase / No Way to Treat a Lady / Flight of the Navigator / Friends, Loves & Lunatics / The Murder Mystery (Video Party Game)
I've seen only three of the movies I bought, the rest are all new movies for me!
Ok so who wants to hang out with me and Julia and watch movies???
But the night wasn't over! Next, I made my way to GALLERY 1988 to check out MONDO TEES show BADASS CINEMA. The doors opened at 7 and I got there before 7:30, the line to buy prints was still outside the door and so I waited! I wanted the GREMLINS print and was picking up one for a friend too. There was a good crowd inside and more then a few familiar faces of fellow New Bevers! The posters, prints and tees were awesome. MONDO TEES in L.A. was a success if you ask me! It was hard to resist the urge for more posters, but at least I got one!
And what's next? Well, I'm going to make my way to the NEW BEVERLY soon and line up to watch Inglourious Basterds at midnight! Who needs sleep, right?
